First Gay Wedding In The U.S. Footage Revealed (VIDEO)

The gay couple believed to be the first to legally wed in the U.S. did so in Minnesota in 1971. Though Jack Baker and Michael McConnell received a marriage license and were wed by a Methodist minister, state courts soon declared their union illegal. The couple fought all the way to the Minnesota Supreme Court for recognition of their marriage, but lost. On Wednesday, however, their home state will become the 12th in the nation to legally recognize same-sex marriage.

In a rare video of their 1971 wedding, published online Monday by local news channel CBS Minnesota, the couple can be seen exchanging rings and sharing a passionate first kiss.

Pastor Roger Lynn, who married the couple more than 40 years ago, told CBS Minnesota, “That [kiss] was the moment when I really felt it viscerally, like, ‘Oh, this is different.’”

Watch the video above to see the remarkable moment.

In June, the Supreme Court made two historic decisions in favor of marriage equality, striking down the Defense of Marriage Act, and dismissing California’s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage. The state quickly began issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples.

We got married at my grandmother’s cabin. It’s way out in the country. There’s a small pond with a floating dock that we got married on. We had a row of canoes that some (adverterous) guests sat in during the ceremony. So we also grabbed a few photos of us in the canoes and then in the fields around her cabin. I know what you’re probably wondering and the answer is yes, we did find a few ticks on us afterward (gross!). But I will cherish these photos forever, so I guess it was worth it. I really feel like these more than any of our other portraits capture the crazy, giddy high we felt after officially tying the knot. These are some of my first moments as a Mrs.Tremma forever!Emma and trey wedding portraits! www.abeautifulmess.comSome of our friends were driving past (headed to  the reception which was back in town) as we were grabbing these last portraits. We, of course, played it cool. :)

Tina Turner Gushes Over 'Wonderful' Marriage – AceShowbiz.com

Tina says in an interview that her married life with her boyfriend of 27 years Erwin Bach is ‘a wonderful place to be.’

Tina Turner opens up about her marriage with her longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach. Speaking to Hello magazine, Tina says that she has found her “nirvana” after tying the knot with Erwin.

“It’s that happiness that people talk about, when you wish for nothing, when you can finally take a deep breath and say, ‘Everything is good.’ It’s a wonderful place to be,” she says.

The “Proud Mary” singer and the producer tied the knot earlier this month in a private ceremony in Zurich. The bride walked down the aisle in a green dress. The 73-year-old singer admits that she fell for the Giorgio Armani dress at a catwalk show in Beijing.

“I thought, ‘I gotta have that, even if I never wear it,’ ” she says, adding, “Then I thought, ‘I know, that will be my wedding dress!” The dress is detailed with Swarovski crystals on the upper part.

According to the magazine, Tina and Erwin’s wedding was attended by more than 200 guests, including Oprah Winfrey and Bryan Adams. Female guests wore white dress, while the men were asked to don black tie. Although Tina practices Buddhism, the ceremony was held in “the American tradition I grew up with, tailoring it a little bit to me.” The celebration lasted until 5 A.M.

Morristown, New Jersey Wedding from Vanessa Joy Photography …

Sometimes it pays off to be the girl running around with a sheet tucked under her headband, “marrying” your most favorite teddy bear. The minute you find that special someone (who isn’t scared off by your mountain of bridal magazines) you know exactly what to do. And you learn just how wonderful the love part of the wedding can be. This bride and I have that in common, and as you can see from her beautiful wedding, captured by Vanessa Joy Photography, it paid off big time for her. Beautiful bride, handsome groom, stunning soiree… and a love that doesn’t stop.

From the beautiful bride… “Alison has been planning her wedding since she was 5…” is all I ever heard from my family, and let me tell you: it is SO true. I’m a hopeless romantic, what can I say. When Geoff proposed to me, I had all but applied for a marriage license. He was happy to step back and let me finish planning this day that I had already been planning for so long.

I’m a neutral color girl that doesn’t like a lot of busyness or attention and I spent a lot of time trying to incorporate my own laid back style into a formal event. When it came to the girls’ dresses, I didn’t want them to be the typical bridesmaids dresses- I’m all about functional and practical dresses and I really wanted them to be able to wear them again. For the guys, I knew I wanted a more relaxed feel and wanted them to be able to invest in something they would have a wear for a long time, so we went with custom suits where they all got to pick their own liner which let them add their own flair. I will say that flowers were a tough one for me. How do you create neutral flowers that are still a stunning focal point? What did I know about flowers? Nothing. Luckily I had an amazing florist who took my style and jumbled thoughts and brought them to life in a way I never dreamed of.

Both Geoff and I have strong relationships with our families and we wanted that represented throughout the day. I had my grandmother’s wedding handkerchief wrapped around my bouquet, I wore my aunt’s veil, Geoff’s uncle sang our church music, my cousin played the violin, and my mother’s cousin was our priest. Everyone being so excited to be a part of our day was something that was so special to us.

I was basically raised on a golf course, so when it came time to pick a wedding venue, my parents’ country club was the only choice in my mind. I have so many incredible memories of my whole family there and I couldn’t wait to add more. I felt so incredibly calm and relaxed throughout the whole night because I truly felt like I was at home. Seeing everyone that we love in one room together having a great time was the most incredible experience we have ever had. To top it all off, our photographer captured the entire day flawlessly and having her around added to the fun we had throughout the day.

So, was it everything I ever dreamed of and planned for? Yes! Words can’t describe the amount of fun I had planning and the amount of fun we had on our wedding day and really, that’s what it’s all about.

It’s a tough decision to make, whether to see each other (in your wedding day clothes) before the big day or not. For us, this just felt right. We had a private moment in my sister’s backyard (I had gotten ready at her house) before the photo session began. I was SO excited to show Trey my dress, as we had been working on it (and hiding it) at the house for weeks and weeks. Sarah (our photographer) snapped a few photos of us in the backyard after those first few moments, and then we moved to a few more locations. We got a few photos of us on the third floor of our local shop building. This is where my sister got married, so it’s a special spot for our family. I adore how these pictures turned out! I think they communicate so much. I think you can almost feel the nervous/excited energy we both had that day.Emma's wedding portraits! www.abeautifulmess.comHere you can see Elsie, Laura and Rachel peeping in our first moments.
