Antigua, Guatemala Engagement + Wedding from Summer Street …

Sometimes we meet a couple so incredibly adorable, we can’t wait to share every.last.moment of their wedding.  I’m talking everything from their beyond gorgeous engagement session to their devastatingly beautiful wedding.  And this too-cute-for-words Mr. and Mrs.?  They are just that duo.  A refreshingly fun, totally stunning twosome tying the knot in Guatemala with the talented Summer Street Photography on hand to capture all of the pretty.  Ready to dive into their incredible journey?  Click here for even more of their beautiful e-session… and then stay tuned for their breathtaking wedding.

And, as promised, a pretty little peak into a day that was literally overflowing with lovely.  From the beautiful blooms from Flor Morena to the stunning traditional ceremony to a candlelit reception that was all kinds of amazing, this, my friends, is what we call “seriously dreamy.”  See sooo much more captured by Summer Street Photography in the full gallery.

From Summer Street Photography… When Kelsey and Danny approached us about photographing their big day in Antigua, Guatemala – we were head over heels for their wedding vision and for them as a pair. Kelsey and I go back to our college days in Minnesota. We danced together and I always admired her photography skills (she’s a talented photographer herself) and heart for helping people. Naturally, these two things left me Facebook stalking all of her travel photos to Guatemala when she used to visit with her dad for medical outreach work – which only deepened my admiration for her. Fast forward a few years when Kelsey and Danny met in Guatemala. They fell head over heels for one another and the rest is history. We’d never met Danny in person, but once their wedding planning arrived in full force and we started talking with them more – it was clear what a great match he was for Kelsey. Grounded, compassionate and a heart of gold; Danny is a keeper. The hotel they got ready in was crazy gorgeous so we took full advantage of the nooks and crannies for their attire details and found a quiet little spot for their adorable First Look. After some additional portraits on the grounds of the hotel with their families, wedding party and the parrots (hello!) we wandered around the streets for a few photos where Kelsey and Danny were literally stopping traffic with excited on-lookers. We eventually made our way up to their ceremony and reception venue which was owned by the same hotel but was the outdoor art-museum portion of the property.

The venue was up a large hill which overlooked the city and the three volcanoes that surround the town, so the view was breathtaking. After a few more portraits we all prepped for the ceremony and I had my breath taken away when I saw their entire ceremony space FILLED with candles. Overlooking the city with volcanoes and hills, it was such a beautiful space to begin with, but with the addition of candles, sunset and the calm, joyous energy of their multilingual Catholic Ceremony – it was a truly beautiful experience. After the ceremony the party got started on the right foot with a gorgeous candle-lit reception set-up draped with roses and pearls. Kelsey and Danny made a lasting impression with their grand entrance by wowing all 300 guests with the most amazing first dance I’ve EVER seen. I later learned that they made up the entire thing on the spot. The evening continued with sweet words from their loved ones and went on to be an amazing dance party that lasted until 3:00am. The Guatemalans know how to party (and dance)! We loved every moment of working with these two and their wonderful families.

Maui Destination Wedding at the Sugarman Estate from Anna Kim …

Don’t you just love love stories? Well, I simply can’t get enough. And when I stumble on a story as sweet as this one? I basically melt into a pile of wedding-loving mush in my chair, moving only to scroll over and over through the gorgeous images of the day where they got to say they love each other in front of their favorite people. Not to mention those love-filled images just happen to be captured by Anna Kim Photography - so I’m officially a goner. Because when you combine an international love story with images this pretty, I can’t help but fall in love with each one. See why here.

From Anna Kim Photography… It was fate that brought this lovely Australian bride and her bull-riding Canadian husband together and it was a joy to watch them unite their lives on a perfect day at the Sugarman Estate, Honua Kai Lani, in Maui. There was so much charm and love in this beautiful wedding with country roots on a little island in the middle of the Pacific, we had to share. With an attention to detail that reflected the love and personality of this couple, it was an unforgettable day.

From the bride… I am from Australia and Ty is from Canada, we met through fate and that is the best explanation! In 2009 I decided to take a break from the everyday life of teaching and headed overseas to travel the world and to work towards my passion for training horses. I was supposed to work on a cutting ranch in Texas, but it was easier to organize visas for Canada, so I went about emailing random rodeo people to see who would take me under their wing.  I had one response from a lady near Edmonton and I didn’t know her at all. Although this particular barrel racing lady seemed lovely, my family was a little worried and so was I. I had an idea to check the friends these people had on their Facebook accounts (yes..stalker comes to mind, but I had to do it!). When I went through the list I found a young, good looking guy with a black cowboy hat on and something drew me to him…no, not the looks but his kind eye- it’s the truth! I held my breath and sent a random message explaining my situation and how my parents would appreciate knowing what kind of people I will be staying with. I received a message the very next day- such a nice response. Ty was his name. He worked in the oil field, was a bull rider and breeder. He had a few bucking cows at the place I was going to stay and assured me that if I needed any help at all he would be happy to help. We didn’t talk much after that. I travelled the world and ended up in Vancouver. While I was sitting at my hostel planning my next move and emailing my sister, Ty popped up on Facebook. This was the first time in months I had seen his name. From there he helped me plan my trip to Edmonton and gave me his number for emergency purposes. Ty sent me a message one day asking if I wanted to go to a barbecue at a friend’s and the rest is history. We became the very best of friends and after we dated for several months, I decided to take the plunge and move to be with my love. Life is full of surprises!

One October afternoon, Ty called me at work and asked if we could go for a horse ride when I got home. It was unexpected but not completely random as we both ride horses. When we were out looking at Ty’s bucking cattle herd he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him! It was exciting but at the same time it felt very natural. It was meant to be! Shortly after Ty proposed it was clear he had been thinking long and hard about wedding details. We were riding home from this big event and he said to me “So… I was thinking, to be fair to both families we should maybe get married in a central location like Hawaii, I was also thinking maybe the end of next year?” I was happy to just be making the commitment to the man I loved.

Our memorable wedding was amazing not only because it was on beautiful Maui at an amazing venue, supported by amazing vendors, but also because we were able to share our special day with our truly wonderful friends and family.

We were blessed to have lovely weather, an amazing wedding photographer, planner, floral designer, caterers, dj, and bar service. Nothing could have been more perfect. We had our very own Maui experience, combined with our love of country and unique and antique ideas. Words really cannot express how amazed we still are at our forever memorable wedding day!

A Simple & Pretty Back Garden Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland …

A Simple & Pretty Back Garden Wedding ~ UK Wedding Blog ~ Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Adele and Liam decided to hold their wedding reception at Adele’s parents house, utilising their beautiful garden setting. They wanted a relaxed and simple affair, with an afternoon tea and plenty of live music.

Adele looked elegant in Stephanie Allin, while Liam looked dashing in Paul Smith. There were beautiful blooms, the most delicious looking cakes and a pinata. Brilliant.

Thanks so much to wonderful Martina Capodanno for sharing her images with us today.

The Proposal… In New Zealand during a 4 month adventure around the world, we were under the stars during a full eclipse of the moon when Liam casually said ‘Baby? Will you marry me?’ How could I refuse…

The Vision for the Day… Our whole vision for our big day was that we really just wanted a really personal and relaxed day with our closest family and friends. We decided to opt for a simple classic style, our main focus was that we wanted our guests to just have a great day, so live music with plenty to eat and drink were key, lots of dancing eating and drinking and you can’t go wrong..

The Planning Process… Again we were quite relaxed, as the wedding was at home we knew the venue very well, which made things easy to visualise for me. Being a wedding musician himself, Liam’s main focus was the live music and we found a brilliant duo for the evening and had our friend perform during the afternoon tea and Pimm’s reception. We both shared the planning between us and decided on everything together. The main stress for my parents was to get the garden in tip top shape ready for the wedding; they worked so hard and did a fantastic job.

Budget… £5000

The Venue… We are very lucky that Adele’s Mum and Step Dad have a beautiful house with their garden overlooking a small lake, myself and Liam had spent many lovely weekends at the house in previous years and it felt very special to us, so there was no other place we would have wanted for our day. We married 5 minutes down the road in a beautiful church and then it was back to the house for a Pimm’s Reception in the garden then onto afternoon tea.

The Dress + Accessories…  Dress: Stephanie Allin – Chicago, Head Piece: Flo and Percy Shearer Headband, Diamond Earrings: Earnest Jones (a previous present from Liam, Shoes: Belle.

Finding the Dress… I have quite simple classic taste and for me there is nothing worse than ruffles so I had quite a simple dress in mind. I went along to a designer day and met Stephanie Allin herself, I loved her dresses and had a couple in mind from her new collection. But when I tried Chicago on it made me feel like a Hollywood Star, it was simple and elegant and very comfortable to wear, it was perfect.

Groom’s Attire… Liam loves fashion and I wanted his outfit to be just as important as mine, he found a lovely slim fit Paul Smith Suit and matched it with Armani tie and pocket square.

The Readings + Music… John read a chapter from Corinthians 13 and Steph read a beautiful passage from a John Lennon song.

Live music was a huge part of our day, the choir sang during ceremony whilst James Deane performed for us during the Pimm’s reception and afternoon tea. Everyone had a fantastic dance to Just John and Paul a Beatles tribute duo in the evening.

Beautiful Bridesmaids… Macy our beautiful niece.

The Flowers… I wanted quite understated flowers so I hired the local florist for the button holes, bouquets and centre pieces with a relaxed just gathered from the garden feel. I love the scent of lavender so we had 6 lavender trees to line the aisle in the church along with homemade dried lavender bouquets for the pew ends. The main event was the lovingly planted flowers in the garden at home.

The Cake…  A 3 tier strawberry and cream victoria sponge topped with mini Liam and Adele characters.

Your Photographer… Martina Capodanno, we wanted a relaxed feel for our photos without that posed for look, Martina captured what we wanted perfectly and just how relaxed and happy everyone was.

The Details + Décor… I opted for an English tea party feel, the main decoration was the garden itself, which was tended to by John and Lesley lovingly for many many months in the lead up to our day. We hung bunting and mismatched hearts from the trees and had lanterns and fairy lights for the evening. Afternoon tea was served on mismatched English tea plates and cups.

The Honeymoon… Neil and Steph (Adele’s Brother and Sister in Law) kindly let us borrow their beautiful house in Tusson  (France) for a week, we then stayed in a tree house near Bordeaux for a few nights before flying home.

Memorable Moments… Seeing everyone I love, all having a fantastic time together in one place.

Advice for Other Couples… Try to keep calm during the planning process and don’t worry if the odd thing goes wrong, everyone will be having so much fun they won’t even notice if it does!

New York City Wedding from Loli Events + Michael Simon …

A proposal in Grand Central Station seems like something that only happens in the movies, but for this beautiful bride and groom, it was a very amazing, very wonderful reality.  One that was followed by applause from a happily stunned crowd of strangers, a mad dash through the rain and a night spent soaking in “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” on Broadway.  Topping it all off?  Their beyond beautiful wedding planned by the always-amazing Loli Events, which was literally bursting with gorgeous details, stunning blooms from Blush Designs and love-filled moments aplenty.  See it all captured by Michael Simon in the full gallery.

And a breathtaking film from Hello Super 8 to wrap up the day… Enjoy, lovelies.

From the Groom… Autumn in New York. Arguably the most beautiful city at its most beautiful time of year. The sights, the sounds, the smells, everything that makes New York, New York. It’s fitting that a couple from New Orleans, Louisiana, would choose New York as their destination to get married. We’ll tell you why we chose New York, but first, we want to tell you how.

It was a cold and rainy November evening in New York. Harry Connick Jr., also a native of New Orleans, was on Broadway in “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever” and we were blocks away, having dinner in Grand Central Station at Cipriani Dolci.

After our meal, in a very crowded Grand Central Station, I got down on one knee and asked Erin to marry me. The crowd dispersed, people began to snap pictures and point their cell phones at us. In a scene reminiscent of a Ron Howard movie, the crowd had almost formed a perfect circle around us and in the middle of Grand Central Terminal, with cameras flashing and people clapping, Erin said “yes.”

She cried, I cried, I think there may have been a baby crying too, and together, we shared a moment in New York, in a specific spot where so many memories came before us, and we made our own.

After we composed ourselves, with tears in our eyes, or maybe it was the rain, probably both, we ran a few blocks to see Harry Connick Jr. fall in love in a way that can only happen on Broadway.

Sitting there, wet, cold, yet completely in love and the happiest we’d ever been, we decided to get married in New York. Now we just needed venues.

We chose 620 Loft and Garden for our ceremony, Central Park Boathouse for our lunch and Mad 46 for cocktails and cheesecake. From the beginning, we wanted an entire day dedicated to showing off the city that we love so much. We felt that each venue was special in its own way and very much, a classic piece of New York. It was important to us to be able to revisit each location for years to come, knowing they would always be there. Having the ability to stand in our footprints years from now with our future children was something that was a big factor in our decision making process.

Green Acres Barn Event Center Wedding: Erin & Chris » Red Velvet …

Their paths crossed many times. Their interests in good wine, food and company the same.  Their individual journeys in life pushed them apart, but eventually each were drawn back to their roots where their new journey together would begin.

Erin and Chris’ wedding venue was representation of their new life just beginning.  An old barn, refurbished into a breath taking new event center, started it’s new life with Erin & Chris being just the second couple to grace it’s youth with their nuptials.  A beautiful combination of elegant charm over the top decor created the perfect setting.  A  compliment to the couples personalities.

From Erin’s best friend officiating the ceremony, to her co-workers at 44th & France catering the delicious food and wine, almost every element of their wedding day was planned with the help of a friend.   Their promises to each other exchanged in front of a beautiful glass window overlooking the spring bloom.  They sealed their deep love for one another with a kiss as they walked down the isle hand firmly grasping hand and smiles stretching from ear to ear.

Erin & Chris; I could not have started off the wedding season with a more fantastic, beautiful couple inside and out.  Thank you for allowing Quyen and I to document your marriage and making us feel so lucky to be a part of your day.  I wish you all the happiness life has to offer and all the best wine life has to offer as well.

~XO

The Details.  Right down to her great grandmothers pearls.

The amazing makeup artist.  Unfortunately, she lives out of state, but I wish she lived here to do my makeup for every big event!  She was amazing!  Of course it always helps when your subject is so beautiful!

Who can forget about that hair? Absolutely stunning!

Putting on the dress…

Chris’ suit was custom made, but I have never been one to pay close attention to the fabric that men wear on their big day, but this suit blew me away!  It was remarkable! And those socks?!  You gotta love the socks! My husband wore Christmas socks on our wedding day, it’s always such a fun surprise!

As I said before, not one detail was left without the help of a friend.  One of Erin’s close friends made the beautiful bouquets for their wedding that morning.

The first look was no short of a “breeze”.  We all were just thankful it wasn’t snowing and the sun was shinning!

Despite the wind, this couple remained poised and perfect.  They made my job easy throughout the day!We took a little stop at Erin’s family’s house out on Lake Minnetonka to get some shots at the point.  The sun decided to join us after an off and on cloudy morning.

I loved the groomsman suits, especially the pants!  You can never go wrong with JCrew in my book!

Did I mention how beautiful she was?  Just checking…

Ahhhh…we arrived at the venue.  As mentioned before this was only the second wedding hosted at this new event center and all I can say, from a photographers stand point, this place was major eye candy!

Had to capture the men and their shoes, I’m trying to convince my husband to buy a pair!

So many details and so little time….

Hi! I’m handsome………….. I’m Beautiful.  Good to meet you.

Erin works part time at 44th and France and she has excellent taste!  I visited her once because I needed to fill my wine rack back up and let me tell you, there was not one bottle she recommended that I didn’t like!  And yes, to answer the question you all may be wondering…all 5 or 6 bottles are gone. Erin made this wine list for her guest to enjoy.

Their favorite place in the venue was the silo which has been converted into a wine cellar!  This is where Erin touched up right before the ceremony.   Although the lighting was very dark, the photos taken in the silo turned out to be some of my favorites.

This little boy, who may or may not have had a crush on the two ADORABLE flower girls was watching as his dad pointed out the wedding party that was about to make their entrance for the ceremony.

Did I mention that the flower girls were ADORABLE!  They were twirling during the ceremony, because well, as flower girls that is your job, right?!

Sealed with a Kiss!

Presenting Mr. and Mrs. Tietz for the very first time!

Cocktail hour took place on the lower level and the upper level was transformed into a beautiful dinning room, complete with a true “cheese” cake, a little surprise from the 44th and France catering coordinator.

I have no doubt that the guests had a wonderful time!  How could you not with such wonderful food and great wine?

A choreographed first dance left everyone wanting more.  Would you expect anything less from a former Vikings cheerleader?

The wind finally settled down and the sunset was the icing on top of the cake!

CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. Tietz!  Thank you so much for letting me capture one of the most important days of your life!  Cheers to a new journey!

Australian Wedding at the Boyd Baker House from It's Beautiful Here …

After spending some time pouring over this wedding captured by It’s Beautiful Here and the Bride’s sweet description below, I pretty much think I would get married at the Boyd Baker House if I had a destination wedding do-over (to the same hubby, of course). It looks like a dream venue – complete with kangaroos - and this adorable duo deserved nothing less. They planned a wedding where they could be surrounded by family and friends, and they got that, and so much more. See it all here.

From the Bride…The only pre-requisite to our wedding was that we were surrounded by family and friends and that it had a communal feel to it without being too formal or ruled by curfews by your traditional wedding venue. As we had family coming from France and New Zealand it was important to give them a truly ‘Australian’ experience and after visiting the Boyd Baker house – we knew this was the right place. How can you go past a place fully furnished with funky 60s furniture and kangaroos passing by early each morning? We also loved that the Boyd Baker was dog friendly so our little French Bulldog, Gypsie, and my parent’s dog were able to attend! It was also important that our nieces and nephews were there and they had a ball playing on the old style tram outside and big tree swing during the night.

We put the extra effort into making the day special by putting little projects together in the months leading up to the day – like designing the wedding invite, sewing the napkins for the dinner service, putting our wishing well, and guest books together, and bringing bottles of champagne home for the purposes of ‘taste testing.’ We were blessed to have our parents, maid of honour, and best woman support us all the way and be ready to tackle any problem on the day.

Our favourite moment of the wedding apart from the ceremony and the surprising speeches was actually having our friends and family camp onsite and wake up the next day worse for wear coming into the main kitchen in search of coffee and toast.

I had so many wonderful couples last summer but this couple is one of the most fun and genuine. I shot their engagement session on a private lake in Morrison, CO. (You can see their engagement session here.) Their engagement session made me so excited to shoot their wedding. There love is so genuine and they don’t hide it. I knew their wedding would be full of emotion and all around gorgeousness. And it didn’t disappoint. They got married in Colorado Springs at the Lodge at Cathedral Pines. Elyse and Lyle (along with their awesome wedding coordinator, Stephany) did a wonderful job at scheduling their day and making sure there was room for creativity and a little adventure. The couple did a very unique first look that incorporated a more traditional aspect. They had their parents stand on their sides of the isle, while her father walked Elyse down to meet Lyle at the end of isle, much like a mock ceremony. Lyle wanted the indescribable emotion of seeing his bride walk towards him for the first time but they also wanted to have the freedom to take as many pictures as they wanted. This was such a creative way to meet in the middle. Not only was the ceremony beautiful, but the reception was a dance party. Elyse and Lyle met out square dancing while they were attending college in Wyoming so their reception featured lots of two steppin’ and amazing moves. I had so much fun photographing this couple as they joined their lives together. I wish them all the best in the world!
